Reconciliation Week

Gathering at Narrandera TAFE
Joy and I were happy to have taken a group of students to TAFE for Reconciliation Week on Wednesday the 3rd of June. Reconciliation Week is about learning, respecting, and bringing everyone together – both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
The students listened to Joey Longford talk about his own life and what reconciliation means to him. Joey explained why it’s important for people to respect each other’s cultures and work together.
After the talk, the students took part in fun and interesting cultural activities. They started an artwork together, which the students took great involvement and pride in. This artwork will be completed with the students help at a later date.
At the end of the day, everyone enjoyed a nice lunch. This gave the students and adults time to chat and share what they learned.
Big thank you to Sheridan Scali and the rest of the TAFE staff involved and for making Reconciliation Week a special day and thank you to all our students for being so respectful and engaged on the day.
We’re excited to see the finished artwork and keep learning together.
