How our neighbouring university if shaping up
As you love coming to school in the city, why not choose the city of Perth for university as well. There is the beautiful new ECU City Campus which is on track to open for the 2026 academic year.
It is now being fitted out with state-of-the-art facilities for the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Arts and Humanities, Business and Law, and Information Technology programs.

IT and Creative Arts Co-location
ECU has a reputation for its Information and Communications Technologies programs. Putting IT together with the creative arts is a strategic step which aims to see the emergence of creative digital productions.
The Western Australian Screen Industry Strategy 2024-2034 is the State government’s framework that will support future developments in this direction.
ECU New Courses for 2026
What you will need!
English – English competence is a prerequisite for all ECU courses.
VET – Cert IV or Diploma
Experience – students can use a portfolio demonstrating experience and references plus 3 ATAR subjects to apply for a place at ECU.
Creative Humanities - A pathway with General or ATAR subjects and a digital portfolio of your work.
General subjects only with other demonstrated competence, like experience demonstrated via a portfolio of work and references.
Dual Degree at ECU in Perth and at Portsmouth University
Six hundred ECU students are currently enrolled in a dual degree program where you do two years in Perth, then one year in Portsmouth in the UK.
There are seven different degrees that are possible through the Dual Degree Program.

School of Education
ECU has 5000 students studying a Bachelor of Education. Including:
WAAPA V2.0
Over 40 years WAAPA has become one of the best schools for performing arts in Australia. It is about to move into a new world. ECU is excited about the launch of a new era for WAAPA.
New Campus - This is the last year for WAAPA to be based in Mt Lawley. In 2026 it will open at the new ECU City Campus.
Screen Careers - The new ECU City Campus will accommodate WAAPA students alongside IT students. This will support the growth of a screen industry and screen careers in WA.
The Bad News - There are only 18 places for acting students at WAAPA.
The Good News - WAAPA teaches more than acting and the combination of WAAPA and IT will generate new creative industry careers.

School of Science Computing and Cyber Security
ECU is ranked #1 Australian University for Computing and Information Systems (Undergraduate Overall Experience, Good Universities Guide 2025).
Courses are developed in collaboration with industry.
Students get real world placements through internships, industry projects and volunteering.
