Monash Scholars!

We are delighted to announce that St Brigid's College Year 10 student, Elizamary Joseph, has been accepted into the Monash Scholars program for 2026–2028.

Selected for her outstanding academic results, extra-curricular involvement and strong application, Elizamary will participate in specialised learning activities and networking events over the next two years as an introduction to opportunities at Monash University. Congratulations!

Beyond the Classroom!

Ms Hobbs' VCE Biology class recently headed to The University of Melbourne to engage in a jam-packed laboratory session as part of the Unit 3/4 VCE curriculum. Students completed an ELIZA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) where they analysed blood samples looking for antibodies of the flu, consolidating their in-class learnings on immunology. Students also looked at changes in wing type of drosophila over multiple generations to examine the importance of genetic advantage and changes over time, as part of Unit 4 Area of Study 2.

Australian Ballet Workshops

Recently St Brigid's College and SMJ Horsham students had the amazing opportunity to participate in dance workshops facilitated by the Calista and Dario from the Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team. Students with all levels of dance experience got involved, and the workshops focused on movement, and storytelling through choreography. Students from Years 7-9 also attended a performance of 'Balar Diburr', a contemporary ballet that shares a First Nations story of growth, resilience and identity.

We thank The Australian Ballet for providing this wonderful experience and are incredibly proud to have such an amazing Drama space to facilitate opportunities like this. Well done to all students for their enthusiastic participation, especially those who stepped outside their comfort zone to embrace something new!

Congratulations!

We are excited to celebrate Year 10 student, Jonathan Gardiner, who recently represented Team Victoria as a referee at the 2026 School Sport Australia Games, for the U16 Basketball.

“I was one of two Victorians out of the 12 referees, most of them coming from NSW and QLD. I enjoyed meeting a bunch of new people and getting to know the Victorian players and coaches as well as other referees from across Australia. Over the course of the week, I received valuable coaching from our coordinators, Kyra and Warren. The competition was made up of state teams including VIC, QLD, NSW, SA, ACT, WA. At the end of the week I was appointed the Men's Bronze Medal match.”

We’re proud to share the story of St Brigid’s College Year 11 student, Hollianne Hallam, young entrepreneur! Hollianne, along with her brother Harry, started their own business when she was 7 years old. They began by selling baled oat and hay, and each year are working towards upgrading their equipment, and putting money aside to purchase new vehicles.

Hollianne is currently completing a school based apprenticeship and completing a Certificate III in Agriculture. This Saturday, she will travel to Brisbane to represent Victoria at the Agricultural Shows Australia National Final. After winning the state finals held in Natimuk, Hollianne will be competing in the Grain Judging category.
