This week - Behaviour Spotlight
Wow what an experience for Elsey!
Elsey plays AFL for St Ives, and a few of their team were invited to be anthem mascots at the AFLW Australia Vs Ireland game at North Sydney Oval on the weekend. They went out and stood with the Australian players for the anthem, and also played a game on the field at half-time!
It was an amazing event and experience, particularly for women's sport. It was a sell-out crowd at North Sydney oval with a huge waiting list. Go Elsey!
Behavior Spotlight
Our Behavior Spotlight this week focuses on walking respectfully around the school. By moving quietly and calmly through the corridors, our students show immense respect for the learning happening in neighboring classrooms. Walking safely not only keeps our busy hallways accident-free, but it also demonstrates excellent self-care for the well-being of everyone in our school community. We are incredibly proud of the students leading by example and keeping our shared spaces peaceful.
VR Spark
On 6th August, we had a SPARK day at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour West Pymble focusing on VR. But first, what is VR? VR stands for virtual reality, and it’s where you get a big headset (whic
h looks a bit like giant swimming goggles) and put it over your eyes. When you do, you can see a whole new world around you. You can even create your own with AI!
Four Seniors, Yuka, Kabir, Mika and Harry participated in this event. We learned how to create specific prompts to make a wonderful VR experience made by Artificial Intelligence, use descriptive language to put yourself in the shoes of picture book characters and give them a true voice of their own and put their fluency skills taught by Mrs Overton to the test when reading an excerpt from the picture book.
T.O.M:
Since T.O.M started in Week 1, both teams have gone well. It’s been half way and we have used team work and cooperation every Tuesday to create a long term presentation on a problem. Both T.O.M teams have been practising with Mrs Dickinson their spontaneous challenges as they are going to be presented on the day. Keep up the good work T.O.M teams and keep going for the second half of the T.O.M practise.
