STEM & LOTE (Japanese)

Visitors from Hamamatsu Konan High School

We were delighted to welcome a group of students from Hamamatsu Konan High School in Japan to South Geelong Primary School last Thursday.

The students, aged 16 and 17, are currently being hosted by families from Geelong High School as part of a cultural exchange. During their visit, they spent the morning in classrooms across our school, sharing the art of origami, answering students' questions and chatting about life in Japan. At recess, students enjoyed getting to know one another while kicking the footy and sharing conversations.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn more about Japanese culture, practise their communication skills and make new international connections. A big thank you to our visitors for generously sharing their time and experiences and to Laura Chittenden for making this special visit possible.

Visual Arts

Music

To begin the new semester, students participated in our Starting Right Program during Music lessons. Throughout the fortnight, we focused on establishing positive routines and expectations to help create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. 

Students enjoyed taking part in a variety of musical games that encouraged teamwork, listening skills, and creativity while also reinforcing our classroom rules and procedures. It has been a wonderful start to the term, and students are well prepared for an exciting second semester of music-making ahead.

Physical Education (PE)

Congratulations to all of our students who proudly represented South Geelong Primary School at the District Athletics on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see our students give their best, demonstrate great sportsmanship and enjoy the day.

A big thank you to our staff and families for their support and encouragement throughout the event. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school.
