Principal's Message

Term 3 Week 4 6 August 2026
From the Principal
Hi Everyone,
This week has been Support Staff Week, and this group of people make such a HUGE difference in our school!!!! Thank you to our wonderful Office Team and Ms Vanda Nocon our Business Manager, our School’s Officer Mr Dahlan Bytschewsky, our external IT support team, our Speech Language Pathologist Ms Leela Pendse Shaw and our Social Worker Ms Rosa Shepherd. All these people help to keep our school welcoming, safe and running smoothly! Thank you to our unsung heroes, our Support Staff! 😊
Thank you to all our teachers for the past fortnight Student’s Progress Meetings. I hope you found them very worthwhile and please give us any specific feedback around how to improve the process. I'm aware this is a lot of additional time and effort from our teachers after very big days teaching. I know they really value the connection with you as parents and enjoy talking to you about how your children are going but it is an undeniably large commitment and I'm very grateful to them all.
Congratulations to Mrs Trudy Weekes and all the different Strings groups who entered the Redlands Eisteddfod. Unfortunately, this year I couldn't attend due to other commitments back at school, but I believe we walked out with quite a lot of trophies! Congratulations again to all these dedicated students, their families end Mrs Trudy Weekes.
Congratulations to all our Prep to Year 3 Merit Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you all!
It was beautiful to watch and hear our Year 1 Choir perform 3 little songs on assembly that we all enjoyed. Thank you to the Year 1’s and also Mrs Marianne Huxley. This Monday, the 10th of August, will be the Year 4 to 6 Merit Assembly and chamber Strings will be performing. This will be their last public performance before the Fanfare State Finals!
We welcomed and hosted Kobe University School at Ironside State School this week. We had a lovely welcome ceremony and then lots of classes across the school interacted with our Japanese visitors over the past few days. So much goes into making all of this happen and I am so grateful to Mrs Shelley Lee and all the Japan Study Tour Team. Thank you to every family who hosted Japanese guests over the last three week, without your support this exchange would not be nearly as meaningful as it is. Thank you so much everyone!
It was wonderful to see so many people come to our Chaplaincy Breakfast, hosted by our very wonderful Chappy Roslyn yesterday. Chappy Roslyn does many wonderful things in our school and is such a welcome face to students, families and staff alike. Thanks, Chappy Ros!
The 2027 Prep Parent Information Night was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for next year. Again, if you know anyone who wants to have their child enrol at Ironside in 2027, in prep or any other year level, they really need to contact us please. Thank you so much to Mrs Tara Griffin who was very dynamic in leading the parent information night.
The Year 3 Street Science incursion was a big fun success. It is so great when something so important, like the learning of science, it is done in a way that every child is just enthralled learning about it. We need future scientists to keep our world turning! Thank you so much to all our Year 3 Teaching Team who organised this great incursion
Interschool Sport kicked off again today and was a wonderful success from where I was looking. I was lucky enough to be able to take a group of children to do gardening with me as their chosen activity. Thank you so much to Mr Nathan Reardon for overseeing this big, organisational event with so many moving parts. Thank you so much to all our teachers who take on the different sporting teams.

I want to say a massive thank you to all of you parents and caregivers who have completed the School Opinion Survey. It is so important that we get as many people as possible completing this survey. Feedback is a gift and we want to hear it from you.
