School Advisory Council

Our School Advisory Council met on Tuesday 11th August and discussed the following topics:
- 2026 NAPLAN results - Mr Nick Parker our Teaching and Learning Leader - Data shared our 2026 NAPLAN data with the SAC. Our students in Year 3 and 5 have done very well overall and we are above state and national means in all areas of NAPLAN testing.
- 2027 Budget constraints - Frances presented a letter from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to the SAC. The letter spoke about ensuring our Catholic System of schools is sustainable into the future and staff pay rises are able to be covered with careful budgeting and planning.
New SAC Members Needed!
If you are interested in being more involved with your child's school but can't get to day time events then please consider becoming a member of the School Advisory Council.
The group meets 7 times in the year on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 - 9.00 pm. The purpose of the group as determined by the MACS board, supports the overall governance of MACS schools as it ‘is to give consideration to, and advice on, important school matters in order to support the principal and the strategic interest of the school’ (Working Together in Mission p. 18). The School Advisory Council provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where parent voice and community perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the principal and parish priest as the custodian of mission for the good of school and parish where students’ wellbeing and outcomes are paramount.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the SAC please email Frances on principal@smdingley.catholic.edu.au and I will send you an information pack outlining the roles and responsibilities of the SAC team.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 8th September at 7.30 p.m. in the staffroom.
