Foundation 2027 Enrolments – Transition Begins Soon!

Early in Term 4 we will begin our Foundation Transition Program for children starting school in 2027.

Enrolments for Foundation (Prep) 2027 at Deer Park West Primary School are still open!

Now is the perfect time to enrol and give your child the best possible start to their school journey.

Starting school is a major milestone, and at Deer Park West Primary School, we are committed to supporting families every step of the way. Our school offers a warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive.

If you have a child starting Foundation in 2027—or know someone who does—please contact our school office to learn more about the enrolment process and collect a transition pack. This can also be accessed through our school website. We’re here to make this transition a positive and exciting experience for every child and family.

Term 3 Celebration of Learning

Families are warmly invited to join us for our Celebration of Learning on Wednesday 16 September at 2:30pm.

Throughout this term, students have been exploring a range of engaging Science concepts through hands-on investigations, experiments, observations, and problem-solving challenges. This session provides an opportunity for students to share their learning, showcase their work, and demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed.

There is something special about seeing learning through your child's eyes. During the afternoon, students will take the lead as they explain their discoveries, share their investigations, and guide family members through activities and displays from the term.

Attending a Celebration of Learning is a wonderful way to:

• Celebrate your child's achievements and growth.
• Gain a deeper understanding of what they have been learning at school.
• Encourage confidence as students share their learning with an authentic audience.
• Strengthen the partnership between home and school.

We know our students are incredibly proud of the work they have completed this term and are looking forward to sharing it with their families.

Planning Week: Investing in Great Learning for Every Student

This week is Planning Week for our teaching staff. While students may notice a few changes to their usual timetable, this dedicated time provides teachers with an invaluable opportunity to work together and plan for a strong start to Term 4.

Behind every great lesson is a great deal of planning. Throughout the week, teachers will be collaborating to analyse student learning, discuss individual needs, and design engaging learning experiences that will support every child to continue growing and succeeding.

At our school, we are committed to providing the best possible teaching and learning program for all students. Planning Week allows teachers to reflect on what has worked well, identify areas where students may need additional support or challenge, and ensure learning programs are carefully tailored to meet the needs of every learner.

This collaborative planning time is an important investment in our students. By working together, sharing expertise, and planning ahead, our teachers can ensure that learning remains purposeful, engaging, and responsive to the needs of the children in their classrooms.

Spotlight on Deer Park West Values

BE RESPECTFUL

Respect is one of the most important ways we show that we care about ourselves, each other and the community around us. It is something we demonstrate every day through the choices we make, the way we speak and how we look after the things that belong to us and others.

Manners Matter

Being respectful starts with the little things. 

• Saying please and thank you
• Greeting people politely  
• Listening when others are speaking 
• Treating everyone with kindness 

Good manners cost nothing, but they can make a big difference to someone's day.

Looking After What We Have

Respect also means taking care of our belongings and the belongings of others. Whether it is a classroom resource, a friend's equipment, a library book or something that belongs to the school, we should always use it carefully and return it in good condition.

The same applies to our own personal belongings. Labelling our items and taking responsibility for looking after them helps us avoid lost property and shows that we value what we have.

Wearing Our Uniform with Pride

One of the most visible ways we show respect for ourselves, and our school is by wearing our school uniform correctly.

Our uniform is more than just clothing. When we are wearing it, we are immediately recognisable as members and representatives of our school. This is true when we are at school, travelling to and from school, attending excursions or representing the school out in the community.

That means our behaviour and appearance can create an impression of our whole school.

Wearing our uniform correctly shows that we are proud to belong to our school and that we understand the responsibility that comes with being part of our school community. This includes wearing the correct items, ensuring our uniform is neat and tidy, following the school's uniform expectations and taking pride in our appearance.

When we are out in the community, people may not know us personally — but they do know the school we represent by the uniform we wear. A student who is polite, considerate and appropriately dressed helps create a positive impression of our entire school.

So, when putting on our uniform each morning, let's remember we are not just getting dressed for school; we are putting on the identity of our school community.

Respect Starts With Me

Respect is not just something we expect from others. It is something each of us can choose to demonstrate every day.

By using our manners, caring for equipment, looking after our personal belongings and wearing our uniform correctly and proudly, we show respect for ourselves, for others and for the school we are fortunate to be part of.

Let's wear our uniform with pride, represent our school with kindness and show respect wherever we go.
