At the beginning of this year, an Oatlands Primary School student was chosen among hundreds of other candidates to represent the state of Victoria as a student ambassador.
Airaa from 6EH was selected after a long application process and was lucky enough to travel to Japan for two weeks in July as part of the Bridge Summer Camp program at the Asia-Pacific Children’s Convention in Fukuoka (APCC).
"BRIDGE Summer Camp" is a dynamic international exchange program unlike any other in the world that lasts approximately two weeks and treats the entire city of Fukuoka as one big campsite. Every summer they invite over 200 11-year-old children as Junior Ambassadors and adult Chaperons from more than 30 countries/regions to Fukuoka. These children take part in intercultural exchange programs such as homestay, school visits and exchange camps in order to deepen their international understanding and that of the citizens of Fukuoka who come into contact with these children.
This was an amazing opportunity and huge achievement for Airaa as only 4 children were selected to represent the state of Victoria! The Oatlands community is very proud of Airaa and of her representation of Oatlands Primary School.
