Each morning as I make my way to Cavendish, I am thrilled by an unprecedented display of the sun's lights bestrewn and radiate on the tranquil landscape. The landscape that is decorated with the characters of red gums and dissolved in hazy white clouds. It is truly a magical experience one wants to keep coming back.

On Saturday, I went to watch our students play Under 11s footy as well as netball against Colaraine. It was such a joy seeing the students in action doing an incredible job. I also enjoyed very much chatting to some grandparents and parents and meeting other members of the Cavendish community.

Following the footy and catching up with some maintenance jobs at school, on the way to Hamilton, I decided to take a turn and visit Nigretta and Wannon Falls. This was the right decision as I quite enjoyed the scenery and was told it is even nicer during winter with more water.

Cross Country

Congratulations to Cooper, Emma and Thomas for successfully participating at Division Cross Country events last Friday. They qualified for District Cross Country and achieved their best last Friday representing our school with pride and finishing in the Top 10s for all their respective runs, 3km and 2 km long. Although they did not advance for the regionals, they did extremely well and learned a lot about cross country and athleticism.

Book Fair

I can say in confidence that the excitement and smiles on every single student's face at our Book Fair on Friday is something I will never forget. I have not experienced this since my daughters started reading many years ago.

Instilling the love of reading and imagination is such a gift. I did this with my in my 14 year old daughter, Tarim, through the stories we made up at night before bed once she had finished reading her book. I highly recommend all parents to read together or share a story together with your children each night to instil such a love from a very young age.

Reading Buddies

As a school we are currently focusing on reading fluency.

One of the initiatives Miss Gray introduced this week was the 'Whole School Reading Buddies' . Each Wednesday after recess, senior students are buddied up with junior students and they read aloud to each other without interruption.

This will help increase their fluency and help them to become better readers.

Baimbridge visit - Year 5s

Samantha Adams from Baimbridge College visited our Grade 5/6 class today talking to our students regarding their annual Year 5 Transition Day. Baimbridge College Grade 5 Transition Day will take place on 20th June at their campus in Hamilton.

Samantha spoke about the day and life at high school providing information for all our Grade 5/6 students.

Hamilton Eisteddfod

Thank you to the parents who have consented and commented on bus transportation for the Eisteddfod. If you have consented on the school app but did not leave a comment about transportation for your child, please let Tammy know if they will require bus transportation home from the event.

Paper Truck loading this Sunday

The Lions Club are once again loading the paper truck at the old railway shed this Sunday morning. Any help from around 10am onwards would be greatly appreciated by the Committee. Please help if you can as the Lions Club continue to be great supporters of our school.

Bean Bags

Our bean bags have finally arrived. A big thank you to the Parents Club for purchasing these for our school.

Chloe and Tammy had a bit of trouble on Monday trying to fill one of them, as per the attached photo 🤣
