Boarding Life

Boarders in Full Voice

The spirit of community and connection within our Boarding House has been on full display in recent weeks, particularly through whole-school events such as Head of the River and the Swimming Carnival.

In the lead up to Head of the River, our boarders gathered for a Wednesday evening session to paint banners and create posters in support of our Loreto rowers, both day students and boarders alike. It was a joyful and purposeful time together, filled with creativity, laughter, and anticipation for the regatta ahead. A large contingent of boarders were then escorted to the event by Deputy Director of Boarding, Annabella Pettinau, and myself, where they cheered enthusiastically from the foreshore, proudly supporting the College and each other.

Moments such as these are a wonderful reminder of how deeply our boarders embed themselves into the life of the College. This same spirit was evident at the recent Swimming Carnival. While girls were, of course, cheered on by their respective Houses, there was something particularly special in the way our boarders rallied behind one another. When a boarder steps up to compete, she is supported not only by her House, but by a family of more than 50 fellow boarders cheering her on.

We were especially proud to take out the Boarders vs Day Girls Relay, the final event of the day. Congratulations to Mary, Emma, Georgie, and Airlee on a fantastic achievement.
