At South Melbourne Park Primary, we are proud to be embedding our focus on School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This approach helps us to explicitly teach and recognise the positive behaviours we want to see across our school community.
We understand that students need to be clearly taught what our expectations are. By breaking these expectations down into simple, manageable steps, we support all students to be successful and confident in demonstrating our school values.
Students are rewarded with tokens for demonstrating our core values: Be Kind, Be Responsible, and Be an Active Learner. It has been wonderful to see students embracing these values in their everyday actions whether it’s being a good friend, taking care of school equipment, or striving to do their personal best in the classroom.
One of the most exciting parts of our SWPBS system is that students have a voice in choosing whole-school rewards. After collecting tokens, students vote on their preferred reward from three options that they have helped to generate.
This week, our students made their choice and our staff delivered in style by wearing school uniforms for the day! It was a fun and memorable way to celebrate positive behaviour across the school.
A big shout out to the dedicated staff at South Melbourne Park Primary, who always keep students at the heart of what they do even if it means looking a little unusual for the day!
We are excited to see how this wellbeing framework continues to support our students, staff, and wider school community in striving to be their personal best, now and into the future.
