FOUNDATION

The Foundation students have been very busy creating artworks. The past few weeks they have been learning about Wassily Kadinsky who uses Shapes, Lines, and colours to create vibrant pieces. We have added some photos of our budding artists. Next week the Foundation students are building their boats. This follows on with our learning about objects that float and sink and learning big words such as ‘density’ and ‘Buoyancy’. They may like to bring in materials that will become part of their boat design. EG sticks, wood, plastic bottles.

JLC

Are coming to the end of their learning about force and motion. They have been busy building axles, wheels, and chassis to complete the kangaroo challenge. Was your child successful or need further tinkering.

MLC

The MLC have begun their designs on their sustainable solar homes. We were lucky to be shown a ‘tiny sustainable home’ and learnt about its features from Sandra whose daughter Lily lives in it.

Division Swimming!

On Wednesday 18th March, 20 students from Years 3–6 travelled to Wangaratta to compete in the Regional Swimming Championships. It was a fantastic day, and I am incredibly proud of the positive attitude, determination, and sportsmanship shown by all of our swimmers.

Every student gave their absolute best in the pool, representing St Joey’s with pride. A special congratulations to Claire M, who placed 2nd overall in the 9/10 girls backstroke, and Lucy M, who achieved 3rd overall in the 12/13 girls breaststroke—an outstanding effort by both students.

We also had five relay teams who swam brilliantly and supported one another every step of the way.

9/10 girls – Zaria V, Sienna L, Poppy B & Claire M

9/10 boys – Isaac D, Callum H, Lawson G & Darby B

11 boys – Luca R, Charlie B, Valen A & Billy D

12/13 girls – Lucy M, Airlie J, Sophia N & Meg M

12/13 boys – Jax ZB, Blake M, Banjo B & Jack C

Well done to Charlie B and Luca R in the boys 11 years breaststroke, and to Jax ZB, who competed strongly in the boys 12/13 freestyle and backstroke events.

Making it to Regionals is a significant achievement, and each student should be extremely proud of their efforts and commitment.

Go Team St Joey’s!
