As we move towards the end of the school year, we are excited to announce that all students will soon be participating in our annual Swimming Program.

Swimming is an important part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum and provides students with valuable opportunities to develop water safety knowledge, swimming confidence and aquatic skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Prep to Grade 2 Swimming Program

Our Prep to Grade 2 students will attend swimming lessons at the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre from Monday 16 November to Friday 20 November. Across the week, students will work with qualified instructors to develop their swimming and water safety skills through a range of engaging activities tailored to their ability levels.

Grade 3-6 Swimming Program

Students in Grades 3-6 will participate in their swimming program from Monday 30 November to Thursday 3 December. During these sessions, students will continue developing stroke technique, water confidence and safety skills while preparing for the school's Swimming Sports.

The week will conclude with our annual Swimming Sports on Friday 4 December, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills, earn points for their house and enjoy a day of friendly competition and school spirit.

We encourage all students to approach the program with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. As always, we expect our students to demonstrate the Golden Square values of Safety, Respect and Learning by following instructions, supporting their peers and making the most of every opportunity throughout the program.

Information and consent for both swimming programs has now been sent to families via Compass. Parents and carers are encouraged to complete the required permissions at their earliest convenience to assist with planning and organisation.

To ensure students are placed in the most appropriate swimming groups, families are also asked to complete the relevant swimming ability survey:

The information collected through these surveys will help instructors at each venue understand students' current swimming abilities and ensure they are placed in groups that best support their learning, confidence and safety in the water. We thank families for their support and look forward to another successful swimming program for all students.
