24 Hour HPV Race in Murray Bridge

At the end of last Term, 13 of our HPV Team member competed in an Interstate 24 hour HPV race over in Murray Bridge, South Australia.

This is the biggest event in the South Australian Racing calendar and it was a privilege to be accepted to compete.

We did not know what to expect. A total of 11 Primary School teams, 150 Highschool and Adult teams around a 1.71km track.

It was a daunting task for the students but they all stood up and gave it their all in every stint they rode. We were 1 of 3 Victorian Primary Teams to be competing against the South Australian schools. Last year our 3 schools finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd and we were hoping for the same result this year.

As the race began, our 3 Vic teams quickly took the lead as we sat in second place for the first hour. We battled between 2nd and 3rd place leading into the night and continued to increase or laps between 4th place.

Our students gave it everything they had but we couldn’t match the speed and endurance of our 2 other Victorian Teams. Congratulations to White Hills PS and Cranbourne West PS on your first and second place results. We look forward to our next 2 battles.

A special thanks goes to all of our Team Sponsors for supporting this program. Their contribution this year has paid the entry fee for these students to participate in this amazing event. It also aided in purchasing a new HPV which we picked up in Murray Bridge and will be ready to race at our Maryborough event in November.

On Saturday 17 October, we have our final Vic Series HPV race at Casey Fields in Cranbourne.

If you are interested in attending to see what the program is about, please contact Scott Zachariassen at jppsracing@gmail.com and I can send you the details directly.
