TERM 1 SPORT PROGRAM RECAP

What a phenomenal start to the year for sport at Doncaster Secondary College! Across all year levels, our students have brought energy, pride and a strong competitive spirit to every event. From dominant team performances to first-time participants stepping up, Term 1 has set the tone for an exciting year ahead.

 

⚔️ DIVISION ROUND ROBINS

 

🔥 Senior Round Robin – 12/02

  • Boys Cricket

  • Girls Volleyball 

 

Our senior students led from the front, showcasing skill, teamwork and determination. The Boys Cricket team was a standout, finishing in a tightly contested three-way draw and narrowly missing out on progression due to percentage. A fantastic effort against strong opposition.

Another impressive day of competition. The Boys Cricket team continued their strong form, finishing runners-up after winning two games. Our Boys Baseball team embraced the challenge, showing great enthusiasm while developing their skills, while Volleyball and Tennis teams continued to grow in confidence and teamwork.

A brilliant day highlighted by strong participation and great spirit. Our Year 8 students displayed excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and effort across all sports, exactly what DSC sport is about.

 

🌟 Year 7 Boys Cricket – 06/03

An exciting first taste of secondary school sport for our Year 7 boys! The team showed outstanding enthusiasm, encouragement and teamwork, alongside some impressive skill for their first outing.

🚀 Year 7 Round Robin – 18/03

For many, this was their first opportunity to represent DSC and they did not disappoint.

A huge highlight was the Year 7 Girls Basketball A team, who went undefeated to claim the Division Championship and progress to the Regional Finals. An incredible achievement, well done girls!

 

🏀 Senior Round Robin 2 – 31/03

  • Girls Table Tennis 
  • Boys Basketball 
  • Girls Basketball 

 

A strong finish to the term from our senior cohort. Congratulations to our Boys B and Girls B Basketball teams, who both claimed outright victories and earned themselves a flag. A special mention to our Girls Table Tennis team for their positive attitude and willingness to take on the challenge.

 

⚽ AUSTRALIAN FUTSAL ASSOCIATION

Our Senior Futsal teams took on the East Melbourne School Futsal Titles, competing against highly experienced futsal schools.

 

The Senior Girls team was outstanding, quickly adapting to the game, building momentum, and going on to win the Grand Final, claiming the East Melbourne Title. They now progress to the State Finals, an incredible achievement!

 

Both Senior Boys teams were dominant in the group stages, with the A team winning all matches convincingly. Both teams reached the Semi-Finals but were narrowly defeated in thrilling contests, losing by just one goal. A fantastic effort, especially for teams new to futsal.

🏊 DIVISION SWIMMING CARNIVAL – 10/03

We had 14 students proudly represent DSC at the Division Swimming Carnival. Their effort, courage and willingness to compete was outstanding.

 

👏 Congratulations to Natalie Lim and Ian Cho, who both won their events and qualified for the Regional Carnival.

 

🌊 REGIONAL SWIMMING CARNIVAL – 30/03

Our two superstar swimmers stepped up again on the regional stage.

We are incredibly proud of both Natalie and Ian for their performances and the way they represented DSC.

 

YEAR 12 vs YEAR 11 – FULL PITCH FRIENDLY

One of the highlights of the term was our exhibition showdown between the Year 12 and Year 11 boys’ soccer teams. With a fantastic school crowd in attendance, the atmosphere was electric, filled with cheering, encouragement, and plenty of school spirit.

 

The match delivered on all fronts, with exciting play, great teamwork, some cracking goals, and plenty of fun banter between the two sides. In a thrilling contest, the Year 12s came away with a hard-fought 3–2 victory.

 

Well done to all students involved for putting on such an entertaining spectacle!

 

A huge start to the year for all our students across the college. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the DSC sporting program, whether competing, supporting or giving something new a go.

 

The pride and culture we are building in sport is driven by our students, and it has been fantastic to see. I’m excited for what’s ahead more to come!
