Middle School

Term 1 has been an amazing start to 2026 for Middle School, and we are so proud of how our students began the year with enthusiasm, curiosity and kindness.
Year 9 Highlights
Our Year 9s have jumped straight into excursions, camps and running their own businesses with their first Term in the Myself Program.
The MyOutdoor students travelled to Geelong for their first camp of the year – Sailing Camp! Students also went on an exciting rock-climbing excursion at UrbanClimb Blackburn, where they put their skills to the test. Raphi said his favourite MyOutdoors memory was learning to sail.
The MyAnimal students ventured to Healesville Sanctuary to learn about how animal habitats have changed over time and how scientists use STEM to protect animals in the wild. Next, students will be using this knowledge to start making their own prototypes.
MyBusiness students ran their own Market Day at DSC, selling plants, hair products, fresh baked goods, hot chocolate, and more! The day was a huge success with students rushing to the market at lunch.
Duke of Edinburgh groups have started their community service work, leaving school every week to volunteer for different organisations and programs. Christina said, “In Duke of Edinburgh, me and my group enjoy going to Templestowe Heights Preschool because the little ones get so excited to see us and they look up to us and say they want to be like us. It feels good!”.
Many of our Year 9s also attended the Empowered Women in Trades Seminar, which built participants’ awareness of trades. About the seminar, Ayla said, “it was very inspiring and showed us that women can also go into trades.” Alyssa shared, “we did engineering, pipe building, nailing timber, and we got to have 5-10 minutes with each lady and asked as many questions as we wanted.”
Year 10 Highlights
Our Year 10s have started preparing for their Work Experience, which is an amazing opportunity to test our potential career pathways for their future. This will take place in Term 2, and the students have been working hard to find and organise workplaces to host them.
The Year 10s attended the Wellbeing Expo, which taught them about different community programs available. Hannah said, “”I liked the guest speaker”, and another student mentioned that she enjoyed the many stalls.

The Year 9 My Business students recently hosted a Market Stall in the Quad during recess, showcasing the products they had designed and created as part of their business studies.
In the lead-up to the stall, students worked hard to develop their own products and apply key business concepts such as pricing, promotion and customer engagement. The market stall provided a valuable opportunity for students to experience real-world entrepreneurship, putting their planning and creativity into practice while interacting with customers from the school community.
The event was a fantastic success, with many staff and students stopping by to support the young entrepreneurs and explore the range of products on offer. All proceeds from the stall were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping to support an important cause.
Thank you to everyone in the school community who came along and supported our students. Your encouragement helped make the experience both meaningful and memorable for our budding business leaders.
