My name is Hayley and I am a lead in the school production. This year we are having a production to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our school. The production is being directed and was produced by Drew Lane. The production is called Imaginarium, this is the year 3, year 4, year 5 and year 6 musical. Year 5 and 6 were the only year levels who got to audition for this production. At the time, we didn’t even know what the production was called or what it was about. I was so surprised when he chose me to be a lead! He chose 8 other people from year 5 and year 6 to be leads. We have been having practises every 3 weeks with our director learning new scenes every practise. I have been having so much fun with all my other fellow leads. Our production is supposed to be in late October, I hope you decide to come see the show and watch all we have been working on this year.

My name is Sabrina and I am a lead in the school production. This year we are having a school production called the imaginarum. We have this production because this year is our school’s 50th anniversary, which is really exciting. Years from 3 to 6 are in the Imaginarium musical. Our school is really proud because this is really important to us. Most of those year levels could go to audition for a lead spot, everyone that auditioned didn’t know what it was about yet so it was a big surprise! We had so much fun practising our dances and our songs. Each practice we have, the production feels like it is slowly coming together. I hope you come watch us!

Hi my name is Joseph.
Did you know that light can only travel in straight lines? This term the year 5s have been learning about light and shadows in inquiry. This term year 5s learnt about 4 subjects: light, shadows, refraction and reflection. There are 2 types of light: natural and artificial light, we use light in our everyday life to see. Shadows can only be made when something blocks light, like a hand blocking a ray of light. Refraction occurs when the object changes what it’s traveling through a substance, like from air to water. Reflection is just like a mirror when made with nature, like when you have a lake you can see yourself just like a mirror.

My name is Selena and this term in inquiry we’ve done fun experiments to help us learn more about light and shadows. Some experiments we’ve done are making shadows with flashlights, reflecting light with a laser, and our most exciting upcoming experiment is making art with light. Making art with light is super fun and you can be as creative as you want! This experiment will definitely be my favourite part of learning about light. After finishing this experiment we’ll be able to do an art show displaying all our artwork about light.

Year 5 Camp
"On our trip to Sovereign Hill, I felt like I had travelled back in time. My favourite part was panning for gold and exploring all the old buildings and shops. I learnt so much about what life was like during the Gold Rush and had lots of fun with my friends. It was an amazing experience that I will always remember!"
