Year 12 Chapel
Last Friday, the Year 12s had the privilege to host a full-school chapel! A big thank you for the help from teachers and for the effort put into it, and thank you for the opportunity. We hope you all had so much fun, thank you all for joining in with our silliness. Don't forget to choose who you surround yourself with wisely to honour God!

VCE VM
Last week in our VCE VM Work Related Skills class, students had a lot of fun participating in a game of “Guess the Job”, similar to Celebrity Heads, but with occupations instead of famous people. Students asked yes-or-no questions to work out which job they had been assigned, using clues about industries, working hours, qualifications, growth areas, and whether the occupation is traditionally male- or female-dominated.
The activity encouraged students to use their prior knowledge about the workforce while also learning more about different career pathways and employment trends. It was fantastic to see so many students actively involved, sharing ideas, asking thoughtful questions, and supporting each other throughout the game.
Most importantly, everyone joined in and had a positive experience, even those who preferred not to be photographed. Activities like these help build confidence, teamwork, and career awareness in an engaging and inclusive way.
Our VM students also had the privilege of welcoming the Mayor of Moyne Shire Council, Jordan Lockett, along with Deputy Mayor Myra Murrihy, to speak with our students about their life and career journeys.
Students greatly enjoyed hearing about the many different jobs and experiences our guests have had throughout their school, work, and community lives. Their stories showed that careers are not always a straight path and that trying different opportunities can help people discover their strengths and passions.
A key message shared with students was the importance of following your passion, working hard, and being open to new experiences.
During the visit, the Year 7 students enjoyed sharing a table tennis game with Mayor Jordan Lockett. We sincerely thank our guests for generously giving their time to speak with our VM students this week.

VCE Biology
The Unit 1 VCE Biology students recently had the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life through a rat dissection practical. While many students were initially hesitant due to the “cuteness” of the rats, they quickly overcame their concerns and engaged enthusiastically in exploring the organs and body systems studied throughout the term.
Students were also surprised by a special guest appearance from Mr Wakim, who began the lesson with a demonstration on correct skinning techniques and explained how pelts can be processed and preserved. The session provided students with a fascinating real-world insight into biological anatomy and specimen preparation.
A highlight of the day came from Sierra Pritchard, who described the experience as the “best birthday present ever!”

VCE Business Management
As part of their SAC preparation, our Unit 3/4 Business Management Students went behind the scenes at Bega and KFC last week, to look at the way their operations are managed. An informative and interesting afternoon for all! We congratulate our students on the way they beautifully represented our school during this excursion.

English
Mrs Pritchard's Year 7 English class visited our beautiful Botanical Gardens last week, designed by landscape architect William Guilfoyle in 1879. The purpose of this was to explore common areas and links with our novel study of The Secret Garden, written in 1909. Students were able to spend time discovering the gardens magnificent areas, just like the children in the novel.

Bike Education
Our Year 7 students have made a fantastic start to their Bike Education program, completing the first two lessons of the unit. The program is designed to help students develop the confidence, control, safety awareness and group riding behaviours needed to participate safely in supervised rides later in the term.
During the first two lessons, students have focused on key bike safety routines and riding skills, including correctly fitting helmets, completing the ABCDE bike safety check, and checking that bikes are safe and ready to ride. They have also practised simple bike handling skills such as starting, stopping, braking safely, turning, maintaining control, and keeping a safe distance from other riders.
Students have also begun learning how to communicate and ride safely as part of a group. This has included practising hand signals for indicating, completing head checks, riding in single file and double file, and using clear communication when slowing or stopping. These skills are important as students work towards applying their learning in a more realistic riding environment.
It has been great to see students growing in confidence, listening carefully to instructions and supporting each other as they develop their riding skills. Over the coming lessons, students will continue building on these foundations as they prepare for supervised group rides outside the school grounds.

ADF Visit
On Tuesday, March 24th, two representatives from the Australian Defence Force visited Year 9 to discuss career and further education pathways with the ADF.
They outlined options for serving in either the army, navy or Air Force while training in a trade, sporting or professional capacity.
It was an informative and enjoyable session, in which the students asked perceptive questions and responded in a very positive way.
