Principal's Update
Leading in Complex Times
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Christian Schools National Policy Forum in Canberra. This conference brings together leaders from Christian schools across the country to consider the broader issues impacting our sector and the future of Christian education in Australia.
Throughout the forum, we heard from a range of speakers on topics including engaging effectively with government, the continued growth of the independent school sector, and the importance of protecting parents’ rights to choose the education they believe is best for their children. We also explored the increasingly complex and constantly shifting regulatory and legal landscape facing schools today.
While in Canberra, I also had the opportunity to meet with Dan Tehan, MP in his Canberra office to discuss issues directly impacting King’s College, as well as matters affecting the broader Christian school sector.
As Christian schools continue to navigate changing expectations and increasing compliance requirements, these opportunities to connect, collaborate and advocate are incredibly valuable.
Please continue to pray for wisdom and discernment for myself, our Board, and the Executive Leadership Team as we seek to faithfully lead King’s College and provide Christ-centred education for our community in Warrnambool.

World Environment Day
Next week our school will be celebrating World Environment Day on Friday 5th June. This special day reminds us to care for God’s beautiful creation and think about the ways we can protect our environment for the future.
Throughout the week, classes will have the opportunity to complete environment-themed worksheets and activities. Mrs Nield and I will also be running a fun scavenger hunt at the veggie garden during recess on Thursday 4th June, as well as environmental activities in the library at lunchtime.
Students are encouraged to get involved and think about simple ways they can care for the world around them. Some ideas families can try at home include:
- planting flowers, herbs, or vegetables
- recycling household items
- turning off lights and saving water
- walking or riding bikes instead of driving
- picking up rubbish in local parks or beaches
- reusing containers and reducing waste
As Christians, we are reminded that God created the world and entrusted us to care for it.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” — Psalm 24:1
We look forward to celebrating together and encouraging our students to become thoughtful caretakers of God’s creation.
