Year 12
Congratulations to all Year 12 students who have completed their exams and now graduated from the College. You are warmly welcomed to the ranks of the Old Virgilians to join with your predecessors – approximately 15,000 of us. Through your voyage at the College the OVA, your teachers and your parents and carers are proud of everything you have achieved.
Alumni Database and OVA membership
I am pleased that we are now able to include you as Alumni of the College and you have provided your ongoing contact details so we can keep that important connection over your future years. All OVA members are encouraged to contact the Community and Development Officer, Enzo Botte, to ensure we have the most recent information to keep you connected.
This edition and further editions of OVAtions will assist in providing mechanisms for all members to ensure we have accurate records on our Alumni database. The Alumni database has been established to provide a record of all students that have attended the College over its history and separately identify all Old Virgilian members. The database will be used by both the College and OVA for future communications and engagement.
This is both a significant piece of work and commitment which will yield improved communication across the St Virgil’s community. The project to ensure accuracy of the content is a lengthy and ongoing task and one that requires input from Alumni.
Recent Events
Friday 7 November 2025 – OVA Golf Day. A fantastic annual event once again was organised by Michael Harvey on behalf of the OVA. The weather didn’t go to script on the day but everyone survived – most with their pride intact.

For those who braved the rain and played, thanks again for your support of our 64th annual golf day. If you were unable to make it, we would love to see you back next year. A solid field of 95 competitors flowed really smoothly all day, but how unlucky were we with the weather? Both Thursday and Saturday would have been great conditions, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
Some players have not collected their prizes yet, so if your name appears below with a * next to it, please get in touch with me.

One last time, we would like to thank Paul Brooks from our major sponsor Raine & Horne, Shaun Heyward from Tilford Motors and Paul Graham from Graham Family Funerals for their continued support. It’s never an issue with any of these sponsors when the OVA approaches them to help cover the costs of delivering our golf day, which keeps entry fees at a reasonable level. All three have been with us for a number of years now and are greatly appreciated.
In addition, we thank the Royal Hobart Golf Club for their assistance with the competition and the terrific presentation of their course. We have already lodged a request to lock in Friday, 6 November 2026 for our 65th event. Thanks also goes to Peppermint Bay and Pennicott Wilderness Cruises for the donation of some excellent raffle prizes and to David Mazengarb and Enzo Botte for selling the tickets.
See you next year!
Michael Harvey
