Sustainability Update

End-of-Year Sustainability Highlights
This year has been a big one for sustainability at FPS, led by the incredible enthusiasm of our Eco Club students, ESWG parent committee and staff.
Eco Club Achievements
- Our Eco Club was honoured with a nomination for Eco Club of the Year at the 2025 ResourceSmart Schools Awards and we attended the ceremony early in the year. They have worked so hard all year with so much enthusiasm and I'm really proud of them!
Energy and Carbon Footprint Progress
- FPS proudly earned its third star in the RSS Energy Module.
- We continued improving energy efficiency across the school and shared our progress through a student-featured video on energy use.
- We transitioned off gas this year by replacing our old boiler with a new, efficient electric heat-pump system.
Environmental Projects & Learning
- FPS became a balloon-free school, reducing waste and protecting local wildlife.
- We created a frog bog and completed new planting through a Landcare grant.
- We welcomed students from Kew High School, who inspired us with their CDS work and helped plant our veggie garden.
- Staff engaged in professional learning about renewable energy, and Grade 6 explored solar power during Science Week.
Remember waste increases by 30% over the Christmas period so every little thing you can do to minimise waste, really does count!
