Our recent webinar with FirstAML outlined what members need to know as Australia moves towards Tranche 2 AML/CTF regulation. The session reinforced that real estate businesses will face new obligations from mid-2026, with enforcement beginning 1 July 2026.

The presentation explained why real estate is a target for criminal activity and detailed the core obligations that every office must meet. These include appointing a Compliance Officer, creating an AML programme, conducting staff training, completing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) on all property sellers, and undertaking a three-yearly external audit.
