Year 7 Camp - Term 4

A Paperly form has been sent out that includes a packing list.  There are extra steps to provide information as part of this Paperly and to ensure it has gone through, you will receive an email confirmation after it is complete.

 

A reminder that the Fry and Penn camp is the first day back for Term 4.  Drop off and pick up for camp is at the Bell Street grounds (Queens Walk entrance, near Bay Road).

 

Please ensure that all medical, dietary and contact details are up to date on Paperly by this Friday 25 September. Outdoor Education will compile their information the first week of the holidays.

 

It is important our contact and medical information is up to date so please contact the Middle School Office if you are having issues accessing Seqta Engage.

Year 8 River & Coastal Days

Year 8 students will be embarking on two Outdoor Education day trips over the final two weeks of Term 3.

 

The Coastal Day will involve a trip to the Tasman Peninsula, where students will apply swimming and scrambling techniques around the coast and Tessellated Pavement. The River Day will involve rafting on the Huon or the River Derwent.

 

Please refer to the information letter in the Paperly form that was sent out this week. This letter includes a list of what to pack.

 

A reminder that EpiPens and any other medications should be packed and handed in to Outdoor Education staff on arrival at Bell Street.

Staying Home if Unwell

Over the last 2 weeks we have had an increase in reports of illness such as Influenza A.

 

To prevent illness spreading through class groups, it would be helpful if students have symptoms that they stay home.  A list of common infectious illnesses and the required exclusion periods is available on the Health Direct website.

Year 7 Quest Excursions - Friday 25 September

Year 7 students will undertake the culminating element of their Environment Action Quest on Friday 25 September. This will include a range of off-campus activities. Relevant details have been sent out through Paperly, including all clothing and resource requirements. Students should wear sports uniform, and require a packed lunch and drink bottle, personal medications, hat and sunscreen (if applicable), raincoat and sturdy footwear for practical activities.

 

Information about departure time and return time to school has been sent out through Paperly, however all students will leave school at 8:30am at the earliest and the latest arrival back at the Middle School is 3.30pm.

 

We ask that students arrive promptly to school on this day.

UTAS Course Twilight Concert 3 - Monday 28 September 

The Year 11 and 12 Elective Music Students warmly invite The Friends’ School community to an evening of live music. This is the final concert for the year that is a showcase of the students' work within the University Connections Program. Each student will perform a solo piece from their repertoire across a variety of genres, and we value your support as they share in their music making in preparation for their upcoming exams. Doors open at 5:30pm, with the concert commencing at 6:00pm and should conclude by 8:00pm.

Screen Sounds Concert - Thursday October 1

Join our Senior School musicians next Thursday 1 October from 6:00pm as they roll out the red carpet for an evening of music from stage and screen! The Jazz Band, vocal ensembles, orchestral ensembles, and marimbas will come together in the Farrall Centre to perform iconic soundtracks and showstoppers. Glam up in your finest night out attire or dress as your favourite character for this showcase concert. Doors open at 5:30pm, and the concert will end by 7:30pm Grab your seat and get ready for a spectacular night of music and entertainment brought to you by the Senior School!
