3 Ways to access VCE Results and ATAR

Any student with Unit 3 & 4 enrolments for this year can use the results services (e.g. Year 11 students completing a single Year 12 subject). They need to register for the results service and create a secure password.
A VTAC account is not needed to access results. Only students who are applying for tertiary courses commencing 2020 should have a VTAC account at this time.

Attention Yr 12’s - VTAC December Offers

If you’re currently studying Year 12, and applying for courses through VTAC for 2020, you’ll now be eligible to receive a course offer in December, just after your ATAR comes out. You’ll still be eligible in the existing offer rounds in January and February as well, but an extra December round provides you with the additional chance to receive a course offer.

Participating courses

Most but not all courses will make offers in the December round. See the PDF document below for a list of statements from tertiary institutions about which courses are likely to participate. All courses will participate in the January round, regardless of whether they have made offers in December.

Change of preference

Once you’ve applied for courses, you can change your preferences as many times as you like. This includes a short period after your ATAR is released, and between each offer round. The majority of course offers are made in December and January, so it’s best to plan your preferences early to maximise your chance of receiving the offer you want.

Focus on volunteering

Volunteering is the single most overlooked skill on resumes.

If you knew that as many as 86% of influencers believe that volunteering would make you more competitive among a pool of job seekers, wouldn’t you make sure to put that activity front and centre on your resume? If you are a student and are told that most scholarships are given to people who volunteer wouldn’t you go out and volunteer? If you are a student applying for entry to a university medical course and you’re told that doing volunteer work in a hospital or aged care facility increases the chances of entry, wouldn’t you volunteer?

According to the 2016 Deloitte Impact Survey there is a huge disconnect between how important it is to hiring influencers and how much candidates are leveraging their volunteerism to get jobs. Survey respondents found that only 30% of resumes list volunteering.

In the recruitment world of jobs and job seekers, recruiters are overwhelmingly in favour of volunteering as a professional development tool. Among the findings:

92% believe volunteering expands an employee’s professional skill set
85% are willing to overlook resume pitfalls when an employee includes volunteering on a resume.
82% are more likely to choose a candidate with volunteering experience
80% believe volunteering is an effective way to boost leadership skills
73% believe people who volunteer are more successful
