As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and partnership with our school community. Your commitment to your children’s learning and wellbeing, particularly throughout a busy term, is deeply appreciated.

This fortnight, rather than a prayer I have included a quote from Pope Francis that feels especially meaningful for our world at this moment:

“Today, as pilgrims in search of hope, we cling to you, Risen Jesus. We turn our backs on death and open our hearts to you, for you are Life itself.” (2020)

As we watch the unfolding conflict in Iran and the suffering faced by so many families, these words remind us that Christian hope is not passive. It calls us to look honestly at the pain in our world while choosing the path of peace, dignity and compassion. We hold in prayer all those affected by violence and instability, and we recommit ourselves to being people who build peace in our own homes, classrooms and community.

I also want to acknowledge the current challenges associated with rising fuel prices and the impact this may be having across our community. We understand that this situation is creating additional pressure for many families, particularly in relation to travel, transport and daily routines. Our school is continuing to monitor the situation closely and is working in line with advice from Sydney Catholic Schools and the NSW Government. The current position is that schools will continue to operate as usual.

As we approach the Easter weekend, may the hope and promise of the Resurrection bring peace and renewal to you and your families. We wish you a safe and blessed Easter and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2.

Family Faith Educator Appointment

After a long and careful search, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Patricia (Trish) Green as our new Family Faith Educator. Trish brings a wealth of experience as a Catholic educator and has previously held leadership roles in pastoral care and student wellbeing in a large regional high school. Her commitment to nurturing the academic, social and spiritual growth of young people is evident, and I know she will be a wonderful addition to our community. Trish will officially begin next term, and I hope you will join me in warmly welcoming her to St Margaret Mary’s.

Stage 3 Camp

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of accompanying our Stage 3 students and their dedicated teachers on their overnight camp. I am convinced that Mrs Giannikos and Mrs McClure have the patience of saints, but even more impressive was the way your children represented our school. Their kindness, curiosity, good manners and the way they supported one another made me immensely proud. Staff at the camp site commented on their behaviour and attitude, and it was a joy to see them embrace every challenge and opportunity.

Easter Liturgy & Easter Egg Raffle  –  Thursday 2nd April

A reminder that our Easter Liturgy and Easter Egg Raffle will take place tomorrow afternoon. Unlike previous years where the Easter story was presented over several days, this year we will gather as a whole school for one shared liturgy. Families are warmly invited to join us from 1.30pm if you are able.

Thank you again for a wonderful first term. I look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the learning ahead.
