Our Easter Prayer Places

In our classrooms, we have Prayer Places. At the beginning of our prayer time, we invite children by name to sit reverently around the Prayer Place, and we begin by taking three deep quiet breaths to settle ourselves. We then make the sign of the cross. Here is our prayer ritual for this week:

"The Church's season of Easter began during the holidays. We’re going to change our Prayer Place. This is a place where we can be quiet with God and we can listen and pray to God. Easter is very special time as it reminds us that Jesus has risen from the dead. He walked, talked, slept and ate for 50 days after Easter Sunday. This brings us hope and faith.

During the Easter Season, we have some various objects to help us to be with God. At this time of the Church’s year, we place a white cloth on the table. White is the colour of joy. Easter is a time of joy. It is the time when we celebrate Jesus rising from the dead. The season of Easter is the most important celebration of the Church’s year.

We place our special book, which we call the Bible, onto our Prayer Place. At this time in the Church’s year, we remember and tell the stories of when Jesus rose from the dead. We light a candle. The candle reminds us that Jesus is always with us in our hearts. We will light the candle when we are talking and praying to God or when we are listening to the stories from the Bible.

We also place a crucifix onto our Prayer Place. The crucifix reminds us that Jesus died for us. But most importantly, we know he rose again to give hope in this world.

Let us pray in the way that Jesus taught us...

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

Amen

We finish our prayer today with the sign of the cross."

May peace, hope and faith be with you during this season of Easter.

Kind regards
