Welcome to the Week 3 Newsletter

Over the past few weeks, students have continued to engage in new experiences, develop routines and connect with their teachers, class, and peers. Inclusion, student voice, connection and belonging are crucial in supporting student engagement and well-being. My role is to ensure all these things are at the forefront of the learning and teaching, here at Marion Primary School. Please read on to see how students at Marion are at the centre of what we do.

Regulation Spaces Update

As we finish off the Room 8, regulation space, we embark on the exciting development of a regulation/sensory hub downstairs in the old computer room. Watch this space, as it transforms into an interactive, calming, energising, and engaging space in the coming months. Many thanks to the team of driven educators, involved in the journey thus far, bringing these spaces to fruition and supporting all students to be Ready for Learning.

Please, remember the Room 8 regulation space is open from 8.30am, Mon-Fri to support successful home-to-school transitions.

SRC

This week classes voted for their Student Representative Council (SRC) for 2024. On Wednesday, we had our first meeting in which we discussed the student representative policy, the purpose of the SRC and the roles which support and govern our SRC meetings.

The Purpose of our SRC

Allows students to have a voice, giving students a chance to speak and share ideas.
Provides opportunities for students to express opinions and discuss issues that are important to them.
Encourages students to work together to make their school and community a better place.
Engages students as critical thinkers, problem solvers, leaders, and role models.

Congratulations to those students voted by their peers to be on our Student Representative Council. A special thank you to Lexi Hill and Dane McNamara for accepting the roles of Chairperson and Secretary. The student's comprising the SRC are already demonstrating positive, leadership qualities and I look forward to working with this dedicated group of students, and together making a difference to our school community.

Our class representatives will be introduced to the school and the community in our Week 6 assembly.

Carclew Nunga Incursion - Rooms 6 and 7

Artists will be working with the students to develop a canvas artwork based on the Narungga Story of Buthera and explore raak and x-ray visual arts.

School Tour - Wednesday 20th February, 9-10am.
