School Production

PRODUCTION NEWS - "THE TOYS" - WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER
'The Toys' - That's a wrap!
From writing the first draft of the script to the final bows on stage, running this year’s production has been a great privilege - one I’ll remember with pride and a smile. I want to thank our wonderful school community for the incredible support of ‘The Toys’. It was electric to see all the kids performing on stage, particularly our talented Grade 5/6s, who took on speaking roles and played their characters with such confidence. And they were so funny! Getting to know these kids through auditions and rehearsals has been the highlight of my year. To their parents and carers - you’ve done a great job. They are awesome people.
While show day was a wonderful whole school celebration, this production was truly parent led - created, produced, choreographed, designed and brought to life by a team of parents who gave so much of their time and skill throughout the year. I feel very lucky to be part of a community that’s willing and able to create opportunities like this for our children. A special thank you to the core crew of volunteers who made this show even more incredible than I could have dreamed: Kylie Murray (Assistant Director/Stage Manager), Leah Perkins (Choreographer), Lynn Hendrix and Mindy Brake (Costumes), Juliette Hansen (Sets), Eleanor Voterakis (Props), Julie Pearce (Make-Up) and Matt Vendeville (Graphic Design). Every element of the show was considered, polished and executed with love - and it showed on the night.
To the Ripponlea staff who supported and trusted us throughout the process - thank you. And to the many families and individuals who helped paint sets, sew costumes, donate props and quietly solve problems behind the scenes, this show wouldn’t have happened without you.
And finally, to our audience - thank you for clapping and cheering, for laughing at our jokes and being right there with us. We spent months creating this show to take you somewhere special. Every scene, song choice and dance was made to spark feelings of '90s nostalgia and happiness. And you got it. It’s been a pleasure to share that joy with you.
I’m enormously proud of what we made together - and I can’t wait for 2027.
Cheers,
Jess
