PERFORMING ARTS

Hey, James here from Performing Arts. Thank you to everyone who came to the production, and especially to all the parents and helpers who made it happen. Well done to all the students on an amazing performance! All year groups have settled nicely into our learning tasks this term, and there is more of a focus on music to finish this school year.

In Foundation, we have been working on singing and rhythm skills along with classic songs such as ‘row, row, row your boat’. We are also learning musical concepts such as rounds, harmony and syncopation by playing different melodies and rhythms at the same time.

In Years 1-2, we have also been exploring musical concepts and listening skills, and applying these to performing. They are getting used to performing in an ensemble and playing different tuned and untuned percussion, as well as singing.

In Years 3-4, we have started with a big focus on rhythm and coordination. This is great for our brain by using our rights and lefts by playing different beats and fills with our hands, legs, and buckets.

In Years 5-6, we have also been exploring rhythm and bucket drums, and are applying drumming concepts to create compositions. So far, we have explored using onomatopoeia sounds and different syllables to create beat box style beats.
