Stories and Creativity Ahead
The Huntingtower Libraries are abuzz with preparations for our Book Week and Book Month celebrations that will soon be happening!
In the Senior Library, we are planning for Book Month - four weeks of celebrating our favourite stories, inspiring authors, and our students' own creativity.
Key events and activities are:
Write a Book in a Day returns for the fourth year in a row!
Library After Dark: Page to Screen featuring a screening of the film The Hunger Games
Spine Poetry Days to encourage students to create short poems using the titles of books found in our library.
Where's Wally at Huntingtower? Identify the staff members dressed in stripes of red and white to win!
Battle of the Books: students will vote each week in knock-out rounds from 16 popular titles to Huntingtower’s favourite book!
Trivia competitions, Word Search challenges, and other competitions to test student knowledge of popular books, genres, and more.

Stories Come Alive in Junior School
The Junior School Library is busily preparing for their upcoming Author and Illustrator visits on Tuesday, 18 August.
Students from Prep to Year 4 will get to meet the amazing illustrator, Chris Kennett! Chris has been illustrating for over 20 years, and has lent his imagination to fabulous series' such as The Nerd Herd, Mr Luke's Magic Library, School of Monsters and more!
Students in Years 5 and 6 will hear from acclaimed author, Jane Godwin! Author of over forty books for young people, across different styles and audiences, Jane will share insights into her writing processes and useful tips around creating a brilliant story. Popular books by Jane Godwin include: As happy as here, Little Cat and the big red bus, When rain turns to snow, Starting school, and Gogo and the silver shoes.
After our author visits, students will be celebrating the start of CBCA Book Week with a Book Parade and multiage craft day on Monday, 24 August.
The Book Parade will start at 9am in the PAC, and parents and families are welcome to attend!
Students are encouraged to dress as a character who first appears in a book, and costumes will be worn the whole day, so should be comfortable to move and play in. We can't wait to see everyone's costumes!
