Principal's Update

Dear Families,

It has been a wonderful start to the term, and it has been fantastic to see our students return with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a positive attitude toward learning. 

A sincere thank you to all the families who attended our Student-Led Conferences. Your support and involvement in your child's learning make a significant difference. We are incredibly proud of our students for confidently sharing their learning and celebrating their achievements. I would also like to thank our teachers for the time and care they put into preparing students for these conferences and for creating meaningful opportunities for our children to showcase their learning.

Congratulations to Eden M on her outstanding achievement in representing our school at the State Cross Country Championships. Competing at this level is a testament to Eden's dedication, perseverance, and commitment to her training. We are incredibly proud of her efforts and the positive way she represented our school community. Well done, Eden, on this fantastic accomplishment.

Finally, we would like to remind families that we have seen a number of cases of influenza circulating throughout our school community. To help keep everyone healthy and reduce the spread of illness, please keep your child at home if they are feeling unwell or displaying flu-like symptoms. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a healthy learning environment for all students and staff.

We are excited to see the continuing progress of the building works. I encourage you to watch the emergence of our beautiful oak tree on the brickwork. The oak tree carries great significance in the tradition of our school. Our original convent building in Roberts Avenue housed Brigidine nuns, and Roberts Avenue was lined with oak trees. The Brigidine nuns originated in Kildare, Ireland and followed the tradition of planting an oak tree, as was done at the original monastery where the Brigidine order was founded. The oak represents strength, growth and tradition and is representative of the Catholic Identity of our school. If you look to your right as you enter the school, you will see the stained glass that was removed from the front door of our old convent building; it contains the motto of the Brigidines, 'strength and kindliness'. 

The journey of our build is very much based on honouring our tradition, ensuring our current children and young people receive the very best education, and sustaining the future of Catholic education.
