Big Breakfast and PJ Day

Our school community have enjoyed a massive celebration today with over 200 students attending our breakfast club before school. Many staff and students dressed in their Pyjamas to celebrate this special day. Thank you to our parents and guardians for preparing students and/or getting them to school early for a healthy morning snack which included fruit, cereal, toast and cheese toasties. 

Support Program visit

This week the senior staff from Greenhills PS visited our school to see our Disability Inclusion team and the funding application work that they do, as well as finding out more about the many support programs we offer. It was amazing to reflect on the fact that we now have 13 programs to support our children, with 234 places available across these extra activities happening at Plenty Parklands. The most popular programs are Social Skills with 47 participants and Numeracy Tutoring with 48 students involved. 

PPPS Has Talent

Our talent show goes from strength to strength with our third week of auditions now complete. The student performances have been fantastic, and the school leaders have done a great job as supportive judges. We have been overwhelmed by the interest and size of the crowds to the point that we need to increase the teacher presence at future sessions. If your child is presenting soon, please remember you are very welcome to come and sit in the audience.  

Road Rules

Please be vigilant when driving around the school. The safety of students is my number one priority, and I still witness parents reversing dangerously and parking with little care. Before and after school is busy at all school sites across the state. We need everyone to show our values of care and respect to ensure drop off and pick up are as smooth as possible. 

2027 Prep Enrolments

The office staff have circulated offers for Prep 2027, with accepted families now welcome to come in and pick up our enrolment showbags. We have a new cap of 84 in Prep, however we must accept all siblings and families living in our zone. Currently, we are expecting 92 preps next year. Unfortunately, we have had to say no to over 60 other families, which is not my favourite part of this job. 

NAPLAN

We have received our NAPLAN results. Individual student results have been distributed. Overall, in Year 3 we have seen improvement in Writing but a decrease in Reading. In Year 5, results show a decrease in Grammar and Punctuation. Our current Year 5 students who sat the test in Year 3 2024, have shown excellent growth in the areas of Reading and Numeracy.  

Industrial Action

I have been notified that the AEU are proposing Wednesday 19th August as the next date for industrial action. We are currently awaiting further news to ascertain what that will mean for our school community. I will keep families informed as soon as I know more. Please be aware that this date has additional ramifications due to the fact that late last year when we locked in student free dates for the year, school council selected Thursday 20th August and Friday 21st August as two of the allocated professional learning days for the year. Obviously, we were unaware of this additional issue at the time.
