The Beginning of Advent This Sunday

This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent, a very special time in our Church calendar. Advent is a four-week season of waiting, preparation and hope as we journey towards celebrating the birth of Jesus at Christmas. .

Advent is important because it encourages us to slow down during what can often be a busy time of year. It invites us to make space for prayer, reflection and kindness, and to notice the signs of hope around us. Each week, we light a candle on the Advent wreath: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, symbolising the growing light of Christ.

At school, Advent helps us focus on what truly matters. Students and staff are invited to live out the spirit of Advent through acts of generosity, gratitude and compassion. Our classroom prayers and assemblies will  guide our preparation for Christmas and remind us to be people of hope in our world.

As we begin this beautiful season, may our school community take time to reflect, reconnect and prepare our hearts for the joy of Christmas.
