Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

At this time of year, I would like to make a special mention of our teachers. While they continue to provide engaging and challenging learning activities, support children in and out of the classroom, and complete assessment and evaluation tasks, they are also writing school reports for your children. This time of year can create some extra stress for our teachers, as much of the work on reports needs to be done outside of school hours. I thank the teachers for their efforts and hope that our families appreciate the time and effort that goes into providing you with informative and accurate school reports for your children.

Staffing update

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully appointed three trainees for 2026.

Lily Fountain and Charlie Seuren, both former Sacred Heart students whom many of you may know, will be joining us, along with Bradey Fratantaro from Simpson, who served as School Captain at Cobden Technical School this year.

All three are aspiring teachers and interviewed exceptionally well. We will finalise their roles and responsibilities before the end of the year. I met with Lily, Charlie and Bradey for a couple of hours yesterday and started an induction process, and all three are very excited to be starting next year.

Kris Kringle - gift giving

A tradition in our school is Kris Kringle, which is a practical and fun way of the children preparing themselves for Christmas. Each class in our school will organise a Kris Kringle program where each child will draw a classmate’s name from a hat and they are asked to find a way to go out of their way to be especially nice to that child between now and the end of the school year. Parents are encouraged to ask their child about their secret friend and prompt them to find ways to show some small kindness to this child each day.

The children should then bring a small gift for this child ( $5 value) to be placed under the class Christmas tree to be opened together towards the end of the year. Please wrap the gift and label it with Merry Christmas to ….. (insert child’s name) from K.K.

Cup of Tea after Assembly - November 28th

Parents and friends are warmly invited to join us for a cup of tea/coffee after assembly from 10:00am - 10:30am on Friday, November 28th. This tradition was a much-loved part of our community before COVID-19, and we are excited to bring it back on a termly basis. It’s a simple but valuable way to connect with other parents, share conversation, and strengthen the sense of community that makes Sacred Heart so special.

Early Notice

The last day for our students this year will be Thursday, December 18th, exiting school at 3:15pm.

School will resume for students on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.

Please note that Wednesday, the 28th, will also be the first day for our new Foundation students. Foundation students will attend school until 1:00pm for this first week and a half.

Kind regards,

Karl Dwyer
