Mathematics and NAPLAN News

Conchita Thomas

(Maths Leader)

Dear Parents and Carers,

NAPLAN

We are pleased to share that NAPLAN testing has now concluded at Mother Teresa. Thanks to the dedicated support of our staff, careful scheduling, and our recent investment in new laptops, we were able to provide a calm and focussed environment for every student and are thrilled to report that the process ran seamlessly without any disruptions.

Furthermore, every student who was absent during the initial testing window completed their catch-up sessions, resulting in a 100% completion rate. Most importantly, a huge 'Well Done' to all our students for their focus, quiet work ethic, and determination over the testing period. We are very proud of you!

New Online Maths Platforms for Years 3–6

We are excited to announce the rollout of two premier online platforms to support our Mathematics program this year.

Years 5 & 6: Maths Online

Following a successful trial last year, we have purchased a full subscription for all Year 5 and 6 students. Maths Online is an exceptional tool for both classroom instruction and home consolidation. In addition to practice tasks and assessments, Maths Online provides students with instructional videos and summary sheets featuring worked examples. These resources are perfect for students revising a concept or for families looking to understand the specific methods being taught in class.

Years 3 & 4: Mathletics

We have also recently secured a subscription for Mathletics for our Year 3 and Year 4 students. This dynamic platform will primarily be used in the classroom to reinforce core skills and key mathematical concepts through independent interactive tasks, and will commence from Term Two.

Both platforms allow our teachers to differentiate learning effectively. Whether a student needs advanced extension tasks or extra independent practice to build fluency, these tools ensure every child is working at a level that challenges and supports them.

Wishing you all a blessed and safe Easter.

Kind regards,

Conchita Thomas
