Year 10 Work Experience 

Work Experience will take place in the last week of term 4:  

Monday 30th November - Friday 4th December 2026

It is an extremely valuable part of the Year 10 curriculum.

Why do Work Experience?

There are many benefits for students:

• Better understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers.
• An opportunity to explore possible career options.
• Increased self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.
• Increased motivation to continue study and/or undertake further training.
• Enhanced opportunities for part-time and casual employment.
• Opportunity to include the employer’s work experience evaluation in future job and course applications.

• Opportunity to develop work-related competencies and acquire skills.

   

Work experience placements that are organised well in advance are the most rewarding placements for students, that is why we are recommending families research, and if possible begin to arrange placements now.

There are many fabulous opportunities out there, so don't be discouraged if you are not successful at the start, keep trying and you will find something! 

Advice

 From Year 10 students who completed Work Experience last year:

Organise it earlier than later

Take your time in choosing your workplace, choose something you would genuinely enjoy, and try your hardest to be organised.

look for placements earlier than you think you need to, especially for competitive ones like the museum or zoos victoria

Introducing digital work experience forms

We are excited to be introducing digital forms for work experience, they replace the paper forms we’ve used previously and simplify the process for everyone. Parents, Guardians, Employers, and Students can fill out and sign these forms online, from a mobile phone or computer, saving you time. Students will receive an email with a link to access the form.

These digital forms are securely stored and handled in compliance with records management policies and Victorian privacy laws.
