Our Year 6 students have been exploring the bold, vibrant world of Tom Fedro–inspired art using oil pastels. Known for his striking use of colour, strong black outlines, and abstract portraits, Fedro’s style encourages creativity and expressive design. Students began by studying his work, focusing on how he simplifies facial features and uses bright, contrasting colours to create energy and emotion. They then designed their own portraits, drawing inspiration from his bold shapes and pop-art feel. Using oil pastels, students blended and layered colours to bring their pieces to life, with black outlines to make their artworks really pop. The results are fun, dynamic, and full of personality!
