Principal's Page

Dear Families,
A very big thank you to all the families who donated sausages, drinks or their time to assist on the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. A sincere thanks to Jacqui Hayes and Hope for leading this event. Just over $2800 was raised and will be put towards updating furniture in our learning spaces. Thank you to Sophie Morton for approaching Hotel Sorrento as a community organisation to benefit from the funds raised at their Friday Night Raffle.
We are extremely fortunate to have the support of the local Sorrento community. The Shake It Up group from the Sorrento Community Centre and The Baths have been in contact to offer assistance for families experiencing challenging times. If you are one of these families or know of someone needing assistance, please let us know.
School Hats
Due to the difficulty in families getting to Beleza during opening hours, we will now be selling school hats from the front office for $15. It is a part of our Sun Smart Policy that all students need to wear a hat when outside.
Oaks Day
The bookings are now open and tickets are selling fast. With limited tickets this year, please secure your booking early. Click on the link below in the image to purchase tickets. If you are able to assist with sourcing and managing some auction items for Oaks Day, there is a letter from later in the newsletter. Please contact Sophie on 0417 136 270 or sophie@whitetop.au
Project Update
As you are able to see, the steel frame is being erected for the multi-purpose space. I am impressed with the safety procedures Baxter Projects have in place to ensure the school community is safe at all times
MACS Care
Please note the parent/carer newsletter for Child Safety Standard Eleven in the attachment below.
Sorrento Community Carols
The Sorrento Community carols will be back at the foreshore this year. The organisers are looking for community members to perform. If you would like to perform, please contact info@outlookcomm.com.au or 9495 1755. Unfortunately we were unable to find enough available students to form a choir to sing.

Update on Mr Robinson
Mr Robinson has taught here at St Joseph's since 1999 and is a much loved teacher. He has been receiving treatment for the last couple of years for a cancerous growth. He has made the difficult decision to resign from his position here to focus on his health and wellbeing. We wish him all the very best and will organise a way to say thank you to him later in the term.
