Religious Education

We have come to the end of the Term 1 and Holy Week preparations have begun.

Last Sunday was Palm Sunday, a joyous time when people welcomed Jesus like a king into Jerusalem, waving palms and praising “Hosana!”  In the space of five days, the same people had turned against him and went so far as to crucify him on a cross, amongst common criminals.

Our students have been learning about these most special events of our Catholic faith.  On Monday, students went with their classes into the church and went through the 14 Stations of the Cross.  They had many questions about the events that occurred on Good Friday. A whole school prayer service on Wednesday afternoon focused on the events of Holy Thursday with a re-enactment of the washing of the feet.

Jesus washed his disciples’ feet as an act of service, teaching us how to love one another and put the needs of others before ourselves.

In Lent, the school community wholeheartedly contributes to Project Compassion every year and this year we raised $519.65 for communities in dire need around the world.

I wish you a holy and reverent Good Friday and a joyous Easter on Sunday when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus by breaking our lenten fasts, feasting, being with family and friends and prayer.

Kind regards
