Principal`s Message

As we move further into Term 3, classrooms across the school are focused on an important phase of the learning cycle: consolidation. This is the time when students build on the knowledge and skills developed throughout the year, deepen their understanding, and apply their learning in new and increasingly challenging ways. It is always pleasing to see the growth students make during this term as they gain confidence and demonstrate greater independence in their learning.

We have had a very exciting few weeks at school, with students participating in a range of engaging learning experiences and special events.

This week, we were delighted to welcome authors Jol and Kate Temple, creators of the popular Bin Chicken book series. Our students thoroughly enjoyed meeting the authors, hearing about the writing process, and gaining inspiration for their own reading and writing journeys. Their visit also serves as a timely reminder thatBook Week is just around the corner, and we are looking forward to celebrating the joy of reading with a range of activities across the school as well as our popular Book Week Parade on Friday 28th August.

A group of 12 students from Years 5 and 6 recently attended the Somers Camp for nine days. Reports from staff and students indicate they had an amazing experience. This camp, offered every two years for our senior students, brings together approximately 75 students from schools across our Inner North network. It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to develop new friendships with peers who may attend the same secondary schools, while also building independence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills.

Our foundation students recently celebrated their 100 Days of Prep milestone. It was fantastic to see students proudly mark this important achievement and reflect on how much they have learned and grown since beginning their school journey earlier this year.

Our Year 4 students have also commenced the OneBall Program, which provides valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, confidence and sporting skills through participation in a variety of activities.

Academic opportunities continue to be a strong focus across the school. We have students currently participating in the Mathematics Competition, challenging themselves through problem-solving and higher-order thinking tasks. We also have students preparing to take part in the upcoming Prime Minister's Spelling Bee, where they will showcase their spelling knowledge and vocabulary skills.

2027 Foundation Enrolments

Planning is already well underway for 2027, and Foundation enrolment offers have now been sent to families. We are very excited to welcome our newest students and families to our school community.

As always, if you know of any families who are yet to enrol for Foundation in 2027, please encourage them to contact the school office as soon as possible. Likewise, if you know of families moving into the area who are seeking a school, we encourage them to get in touch. As a strong neighbourhood school, it is important that we have an accurate picture of enrolment demand so that we can plan effectively for future years.

I would also ask families whose children will be moving on from our school in 2027 to let us know as soon as possible. Early notification assists us greatly with planning class structures, staffing allocations and resourcing for the year ahead.

 It is wonderful to see so many students embracing the opportunities available to them and demonstrating our school values through their participation, enthusiasm and achievements.
