Principal's Report

Dear families,  

 

I hope that you are all back into the swing of things as we conclude Week 3 of Term 3. 

Lots has been happening over the past few weeks with; Foundation 2027 interviews, Athletics practice and divisional netball, and the build is really taking shape now with steelwork and framing going up. 

100 DAYS OF FOUNDATION

Today marks 100 days of school for our 2026 Foundation cohort. We are so proud of all that the children have achieved and how far they have progressed. Visitors are often gobsmacked by the level of engagement and ability that can be witnessed within our Foundation classrooms. Well-done children! 

NAPLAN  

We could not be prouder of some of the achievement that we have seen within our NAPLAN 2026 results. Including: 

  • 80% of Year 3 students achieved at Strong or Exceeding levels in Writing 
  • Nearly 90% of Year 5 students achieved at Strong or Exceeding levels in Numeracy 

  • More than 87% of Year 5 students achieved at Strong or Exceeding levels in Grammar and Punctuation 

     

This is a testament to strong learning and teaching within Holy Rosary, student effort, staff care and family support.

STAFFING

Last week, I accepted the resignation of Ms Leisa Mackenzie. Leisa works as a Learning Support Officer within our Year 3 classrooms. Leisa has built a very good rapport with the cohort, facilitates interventi and supporting students (and teachers) within the space. We thank Leisa for her care and dedication to the students and community of Holy Rosary and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.  

BISHOP'S INSTALLATION

On Wednesday, Miss Doyle and I represented our school at the Cathedral for the Installation of Bishop Rene Ramirez RCJ. It was a wonderful atmosphere as we welcome our new Bishop into Sandhurst. We look forward to working with Bishop Rene over the coming years and welcoming him into our community. 

SPORT AT HOLY ROSARY

On Wednesday, students and staff travelled to Red Energy Arena to represent our school in the Divisional netball. Thank you to our team for their efforts and Mr Coates for organising this. On Friday, we have our Holy Rosary Athletics. Let's hope for some great weather for the day.  

ENROLMENTS

This week, we commenced our Foundation interviews for enrolled 2027 students. As I have mentioned previously, we have had exceptional interest in enrolments for Foundation 2027 and currently have a significant wait list for some families. At this point, we still have limited space within some of our other classrooms so I urge anyone who might know of someone interested in coming across to Holy Rosary in 2027 to contact our office asap as not to miss out.
