Father's Day Mass and Morning Tea Invitation
The College’s Father's Day Masses will take place on Friday 4 September in the College Gymnasium. All fathers, grandfathers and father figures are welcome to celebrate with their sons. (No mothers, siblings outside of SPC or others.)
Due to space restrictions, there are two Masses based on Houses, which are rotated each year for fairness. If you cannot make your allocated Mass, we hope you can make it next year and that you can enjoy Mass with your sons in your parishes on Sunday 6 September. (We cannot switch people around sorry.)
7:45 AM Mass is for families in Berg, Coghlan and Crichton
9:30 AM Mass is for families in Hanrahan, Hickey and Rice.
If you would like to do a reading or be a Eucharistic Minister or take on another role, please indicate on the form below by Monday 24 August at the latest.
All fathers and father figures are invited to a Morning Tea hosted by the P&F at 8:45 AM between the two Masses. Venue to be advised.

Father's Day Gift Stall
We will be holding a Fathers’ Day Gift Stall for students to buy gifts for Dads and Grandads from Cana Farm on Monday 31 August.
Cana Farm, one of our Justice Partners, is a Social Enterprise that:
“offers skill-building opportunities for those facing employment barriers. Through hands-on farming experience, we provide a supportive environment where individuals can develop essential skills and confidence for broader job prospects. Our community members produce, package, label, and distribute our products.” (Cana Farm, Social Enterprise and Cana Communities initiative).
All gifts purchased will contribute to the running of the farm and enterprise. I can attest to the quality of the gifts – really great options.
ALL gifts will be $15. Boys will be able to use card or cash on the day. The Stall will be set up for boys to purchase from in the Scientia Plaza at Lunch.

Barbeque Mitt and Serving Tray
A handy addition to Dad’s barbeque armoury. A handy mitt for the too hot to handle, and a serving tray for distributing or taste testing the finished product.
Rocky Roadlicious
A solid block of Chocolate 210 grams+ with some extra crunch and sweet surprises. Handmade at Cana Farm and packed and ribboned by members of the Cana community.
Hot Sauce
Gourmet Chipotle and Cayenne medium hot sauce. Using high-quality natural ingredients with no added artificial colours, preservatives, sulphites, extracts or thickeners. Gluten & dairy free. Vegan friendly.
Barbeque Rub
A flavoursome mix of herbs and spices including smoky paprika, garlic, mustard and rosemary. Bring family and friends together to enjoy this rub on those barbeque meats, poultry or fish.
Chilli Salt
A blend of Murray River salt and a mix of savoury Murray River salt flakes, dehydrated peppers ground into dried flakes, and black peppercorns will give Dad a buzz.
SPC Immersion Program 2026
The College has a long-standing Immersion Program that allows students the opportunity to step out of their own bubble and engage in various worldviews, broadening their knowledge and understanding, deepening their empathy and supporting their commitment to co-creating a better world for all.
The three Immersions on offer to Year 11 students are:
Global Immersion focused on the Majority World - Papua New Guinea (PNG - Rabaul)
National Immersion focused on First Nations Reconciliation – Alice Springs
Ecological Immersion focused on the impact of climate change on the islands of the Pacific – Fiji
While our Fiji Immersion did not run this year, the PNG and Alice Springs Immersions took place within the last month, with great success. The impact on students is undeniable and the legacy we leave is extremely important.
Current Year 10 students will receive further information about the Immersions soon and will be able to apply for next year.
Below is an account of each of the Immersions from students who participated.
Papua New Guinea
During the school holidays, we travelled to Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, with six boys from St Patrick's College, four boys from Ambrose Treacy College in Brisbane, and four teachers. Throughout the trip, we immersed ourselves in the local culture by taking part in everyday activities that are part of village life. While staying with the students of the Edmund Rice Life Training Centre, our buddies who became our friends, we helped make copra from coconuts, learnt how food is prepared, and even experienced killing chickens for meals. These activities gave us a greater appreciation for the hard work and self-sufficiency of the local people.
One of the highlights of the trip was climbing Mt Mother, where we were rewarded with incredible views of Rabaul and the surrounding volcanoes. Seeing the volcano up close was an unforgettable experience and helped us understand the region's unique landscape and history.
The trip opened our eyes to a different way of life. Although Papua New Guinea is considered part of the Majority World, the people we met were some of the happiest and most welcoming we have ever encountered. They rely on the land for much of what they need, instead of buying everything, creating a strong sense of community and gratitude. We also enjoyed watching the State of Origin together, making it even more memorable when the Blues won. Overall, the experience changed our perspective and left a lasting impression on all of us.

Alice Springs
Our recent 10-day Immersion to Alice Springs and the Northern Territory was an experience that challenged our perspectives and gave us a much deeper appreciation of First Nations culture, identity and Country. Rather than just visiting new places, we were given the opportunity to learn through genuine experiences and conversations with local students, teachers and elders.
One of the most memorable parts of the trip was spending time with the students at St Joseph's Flexi Centre in the heart of Alice Springs. From swimming together at a local gorge and simply sharing meals, our excitement and openness was reciprocated. Those moments helped us understand the importance of community and connection in such a different way.
Standing before Uluru and visiting sacred sites reminded us that these are far more than landmarks. They hold stories, history and cultural significance for First Nation peoples, and are treated with respect. Hiking through Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon, along with travelling through Arrernte land allowed us to experience the vastness and beauty of Country, making these lessons even more meaningful.
The trip was shared by Elliot, Sam (Big Sam), Sam, Dom, Phill (Phillipe) and Lucas (Burnie), and each of us came away with lasting memories and a greater appreciation for the world's oldest living culture. It was an unforgettable opportunity to learn, reflect and grow together, and one that we will continue to value long after returning home.

The power of these experiences can be seen in the shift in perspective, the lessons learned and the desire to form deeper and stronger relationships. These young men are the light-bearers of their time, joining a long list of students who have engaged with our partners over the years. They carry on a tradition that shines our light in the world.
Thank you to all involved, including the staff – Mr Menezes, Mr Chase and Mr van der Meer – and parents for their support and wisdom in prioritising this opportunity for their sons.

29th Annual Women’s Night of Spirituality Wednesday 2 September
The Parish of Our Lady of the Way (North Sydney, Kirribilli, Lavender Bay) extend an invitation to College staff, and senior students and their mothers, grandmothers and carers to their annual Women’s Night of Spirituality on Wednesday 2 September, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
It is an evening when women, who come from diverse backgrounds, share aspects of the spiritual dimensions of their lives. The event will feature three guest speakers, and their talks will be enhanced with wonderful musical items from the vibrant enthusiastic award-winning choir of mothers and friends of St Mary’s. The evening offers strength and inspiration to women and men of all ages and faiths (or no faith), and has much to offer young women, and young men, in their senior years as they mature and face life’s joys and challenges.
