Student Wellbeing

SMCM Student Engagement Team
This team place SMCM students at the centre of all that we do. In delivering a unified approach, high-quality teaching can drive meaningful student engagement. We work in partnership with families and allied health professionals to provide an environment that promotes flourishing learners.
When students feel a sense of belonging and can form positive friendships with their peers, they are ready to learn. Students learn best when they feel safe to try new things and recognise that mistakes create opportunities for further learning.
At primary school, learning to get along with other students and to show respect and empathy for others is taught explicitly in the homegroup and supported at break times through guided conversations.
If your child is experiencing challenges at school, please contact your child's homegroup teacher first. The student engagement team will support the homegroup teacher to provide strategies and regular check-ins. Access to the school counselor is made via the homegroup teacher and the student engagement team when further 1:1 support is required for your child.
Foundation PSGs
We will begin our Foundation Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings next week. Alana and Jess will be in contact with families of Foudation students who require adjustments to ensure they are expierencing success at SMCM. PSGs will take place in week 7 & 8.
