Deaflympics at Berwick Chase

Did you know the Deaflympics have recently been held in Tokyo, Japan? During our Auslan sessions, students have been learning about the history of the Deaflympics and how small adjustments, such as flashing lights and flags, can make sports more accessible for Deaf athletes.

We even held our very own Berwick Chase Deaflympics, where students competed against their peers in a series of mini games. These games incorporated flashing lights and provided opportunities to practise Auslan skills, earning points to see who would take home the gold!

A lot of fun was had, and students developed a new understanding of how simple adjustments can create a more inclusive environment for everyone.
