LOTE (Mandarin)
Ms Hilary Cheng
It has been wonderful to return to Karoo and see so many familiar faces, as well as meet our new students!
This week in Mandarin, students from Prep to Year 6 have been revisiting their Chinese language skills through a range of interactive songs and games.
Our Prep students have been learning how to greet others in Mandarin, practising expressions such as nǐ hǎo (hello), zǎoshang hǎo (good morning) and zàijiàn (goodbye). Year 1/2 students have been building their confidence in speaking Mandarin by asking and answering questions about their names.
Meanwhile, our Year 3/4 students have been revisiting family vocabulary and practising how to introduce family members using simple Chinese sentences. Year 5/6 students have been putting their Mandarin knowledge to the test through food-themed challenges, expressing their likes and dislikes, and practising conversations about their favourite foods.
It has been a fantastic start to the term, and I look forward to sharing many more exciting Mandarin learning experiences with our students!
