Year 5 Excursion to the Jewish Museum of Australia

In Week 9 and 10 of Term 3, all Year 5 classes travelled to the Jewish Museum of Australia during their Art lesson to examine and explore how artists express their cultural identities.
The theme Connecting Cultures Through Art was strongly evident as the students enthusiastically participated in discussions about their own cultures, shared personal experiences and made connections to the amazing art and artworks on display in the museum.
All students took part in a hands-on art-making activity, creating a Mirka Mora-inspired soft sculpture that reflects their own culture and identity.
Comments from the students…..
It was really fun making the soft sculpture and I liked learning about the Jewish culture. (Emily 5C)
I think it was an interesting and fun way to learn about my friends cultures and how they celebrate. I learnt so much new information about everyone. (Hannah 5C)
I really loved learning about Jewish artists and looking around the museum. I enjoyed seeing all the interesting things from the Jewish religion and listening to everyone’s stories about their cultures. (Arielle 5C)
