Year 2 Spotlight

Two Days, One Big Year 2 Adventure!
On Thursday 15th and Friday 16th October, our Year 2s traded their usual school routine for an extended day camp, and what a stretch of fun it turned out to be! Students arrived back at school at 5pm on Thursday, and the Senior Learning Centre quickly filled with noise and excitement. Teams tackled a hula hoop game, took on building challenges and raced to move ping pong balls from one bowl to another.
With appetites well and truly built up, everyone tucked into pizza before the evening’s main event: a Bricks4Kidz LEGO incursion. Students could build whatever they dreamed up, follow a guided kit or try their hand at a motorised creation. Dessert was a plate of fresh fruit and some relaxed time with their own classes, and then it was home to bed for some very sleepy, very happy children.
Friday began in the cosiest way possible, with students walking through the gates in their pyjamas. We all shared breakfast in the hall, and the all-round smiles made it a lovely start to Day Two. After that, we headed to the reserve next to school for a stint of running, playing and plenty of laughter.
The day’s big highlight was a Geography treasure hunt around the school grounds. Students searched everywhere for hidden Australian capital cities, states and landmarks, and they worked as a team and showed real persistence and sharp detective skills. We finished with a movie session, snuggling in to watch Ice Age with a bag of popcorn each. It was a wonderful way to wrap up two days full of friendship, fun and memories to treasure!
