Heidelberg Rises to the Challenge at Heidelberg District Cross Country! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Fifty-six Heidelberg students headed to Banyule Flats Reserve for District Cross Country and were greeted by classic cross country conditions — a chilly morning, cold air, and grass still covered in morning dew. Perfect conditions… if you enjoy frozen fingers and wet shoes!

Cross country is one of those events that’s incredibly difficult to predict. Times get faster at every level, courses can favour different runners, and conditions on the day can change everything. It doesn’t always matter who looked strongest at training — race day has a way of creating surprises.

And surprise us it did.

Our Heidelberg students delivered an outstanding performance across the board, showing determination, resilience and plenty of grit. In fact, Heidelberg recorded our highest number of Division Cross Country qualifiers in a number of years and, to top it off, we qualified more students than any of the other six schools competing on the day.

A huge congratulations goes to our place-getters:🥉 Ashton L – 3rd Place – 9/10 Boys🥈 Lily H – 2nd Place – 11 Girls🥉 Maya E – 3rd Place – 12 Girls🥇 Patrick HB – 1st Place – 12 Boys (an incredible achievement!)

A special congratulations also to our additional Division qualifiers:Tom M – 4th Place – 9/10 Boys

Ella W – 7th Place – 11 Girls

Kiana J – 9th Place – 11 Girls

Chloe V – 10th Place – 11 Girls

Nolan P – 7th Place – 11 Boys

Ricky M – 10th Place – 11 Boys

Ava W – 6th Place – 12 Girls

Olivia W – 7th Place – 12 Girls

Remy B – 9th Place – 12 Girls

Whether students finished first, tenth, or simply crossed the line after giving everything they had, every Heidelberg runner represented the school with determination and pride. We wish all of our Division qualifiers the very best as they prepare for the next challenge — and if District taught us anything, it’s that Heidelberg runners should never be underestimated! 💙💛
