Library News

It has been a wonderful and busy first half of the term in the library, with students across the school engaging in rich learning, creativity, and a love of reading. To honour the ANZAC Day spirit of remembrance, students contributed thoughtfully to our beautiful poppy garden display.
In Year 6, students have been enjoying poetry by creating imaginative “story spine poems” using picture story book titles. We are also reading, ‘Love That Dog’ by Sharon Creech, a moving novel written in free verse that inspired students to create free verse poems of their own. The results have been thoughtful, creative, funny and truly beautiful.
In Year 2, students recently finished reading ‘Layla Queen of Hearts’ by Glenda Millard. Inspired by the story, we created a welcoming tablecloth display, shared lunch together, and added our own “notes from the heart” to celebrate kindness and connection. Next, we will be exploring the exciting world of non-fiction texts! Students will take part in fun scavenger hunts as they search for different non-fiction features and learn how these features help us read, understand, and discover new information.
The Year 3 students are continuing to enjoy ‘The Wild Robot’ by Peter Brown and our very own library robot, Roz, is becoming more “wild” with every chapter we read!
Next week, library learning will focus on National Reconciliation Week as students explore how we can all be “All In" when it comes to reconciliation.
Please feel free to pop into the library with your child. Let them introduce you to their favourite book or author, or take a moment to read the thoughtful notes hanging on our Library Love Tree, created by students in Art Club led by Kristie Thews.
Stay tuned for more library highlights from Denise next week.
Happy Reading!
Jane
